Art jewelry experimentation with Pebeo paints


In laste 2018, I sent another 100 boxes of vintage bottlecap necklaces to Art-o-mat.



This time, I used Pebeo Prisme Moonlight Fantasy paints for the inside of the bottlecaps.



Each cap dried with a honeycomb effect after I poured in the liquid paint.


They have a beautiful finish but need a sealer since they never truly "dry" 100% on this metal surface.


Another drawback of Pebeo paints is that they are expensive and you must use your entire bottle of paint, because it will not keep until next time.  Instead the paints will thicken and not produce a honeycomb effect at a future painting session.


Still, I greatly enjoyed experimenting with these Pebeo paints and loved the effects.


Clarice started making bracelets for her friends in late 2018.

Kandinsky books to enjoy

Are you looking for some excellent additions to your 2016 reading list? Recently, I have shared with students in my abstract art class a children's book about Kandinsky.  The first book, The Noisy Paint Box was written by Barb Rosenstock and illustrated by Mary Grandpre. Update on Works in Progress

Clarice and I had a blast in the studio this weekend.  We added more Jackson Pollock to the blue and green painting, which I keep referring to as " Wild Sargasso Sea ."  (Clarice thinks this name is hilarious.) White splotches, silver, and dark blue swirls happened here. Wild Sargasso Sea Then, the coral painting that I refer to as the "more Mondrian -ish" piece had some gold geometric highlights added to its negative space.  After this, I felt like the painting was suddenly channeling some Gustav Klimt .  I'm calling this one "Coral with Turquoise and Gold Incidentals."  (Musical composers write incidental music to accompany or accentuate the action in scenes.)  Coral with Turquoise and Gold Incidentals I still feel like my background colors of bright blue and coral on these two paintings were inspired by Kandinsky .  I also felt that the lyrical, rhythmic lines might make him smile.  He believed each painting captured a musical symphony.  Maybe he w

Kandinsky Bike Gear No. 1 & 2 for TAG Show

Here are a couple entries for Theatre Art Galleries' Fall invitational show, "The Bicycle:  Art Meets Form."  It will be in September.  I'm looking forward to seeing all the beautiful work.   I can't stop thinking about Kandinsky lately, so that's why I ended up transforming some Kandinsky-like circles into artsy bike gears.  I also diverted from my favorite color pallete (Mondrian's) to insert some green.
